VP Communications | 2011-2012

Doris Hu

Duties and Job Roles

The VP of Communications’ main purpose is the facilitation of information. I collaborate closely with my colleagues in the Communications Division to plan and execute promotional materials for all of ASA’s initiatives. I am also in charge of maintaining the ASA website and email lists.

About me:

I am a 4th year accounting student who has an artistic side to balance out the numbers. I love drawing, singing and reading in the 3 languages I am fluent in. Having lived in China, Singapore and Japan, my diversity makes me very easily approachable so feel free to come up to me and talk about where you come from and where you’ve been. I want to hear everyone’s story.

Most important thing to me:

I value knowledge the most, because the world is moving too fast for people to say “ignorance is bliss”. It does not have to be academic related. Even if it is knowing about entertainment, fashion or tourism, what I know builds up my view, and I can only have an identity if I have opinions and beliefs, and I have a voice.

My happiest moment:

It is when I landed in Narita Airport for the first time, embarking on my 5 months exchange in Tokyo. Japan was a country I always wanted to live in, not just to travel in, and finally being able to go there after learning of its culture from afar for so long, I knew it was going to be the start of the greatest experience so far.

Where on the globe do you want to be in 10 years?

I would like to be in London because I am a big city girl at heart, and I find British accents very intriguing.

If 2012 actually came true, how would you spend your last day on earth and why?

I would spend it with my family and loved ones, watch a movie and share some snacks together, because that is the kind of normality that makes me feel most at ease.
