[ASA] FREE Income Tax Filing Service for SFU Students/Faculty

It’s that time of the year again…

TAX TIME

Don’t stress! The Accounting Student Association is offering a FREE tax return service with volunteers trained by CRA! Simply sign up and get your tax return done for you!

After signing up, you will be paired up with one of our qualified volunteers. Please expect a call or e-mail from your volunteer the week of March 7 – March 12. Your volunteer will then schedule an appointment with you between March 15 – April 15 to file your return. The place where you will have your tax returns filed will be provided by your volunteer (either WMX2301 or 2305).

Who is eligible?

ü Any SFU student, resident, or faculty member

ü Single person with annual income of $25,000 or less

ü Married couple without dependants combined income of $35,000 or less

ü Married couple with dependants with combined income of $35,000 or less plus $2,000 for each dependant

ü Individual with less than $1,000 investment income

Who is NOT eligible?

o    Those with rental income

o    Those who are self-employed (owns own business)

o    Those who have deceased returns

o    Those who have returns claiming capital gains or losses

o    Those with major investments/RRSP/stocks/mutual funds/RESP

o    Those who filed for bankruptcy
