Canada ACORN Tax Volunteers

A volunteer opportunity has come up with Canada ACORN.

Canada ACORN is opening up its Free Income Tax Site for the 5th straight year and need volunteers to help make it successful.   In 2011 BC ACORN completed over 2200 tax returns for low income people in the lower mainland, giving back well over three million dollars in unclaimed tax benefits to the communities that need it most.  This year Canada ACORN plans to do over 2500 returns, and it is essential to have volunteers to make it happen.  Volunteers will gain valuable job experience and also get to help out low income families one on one.   References will be given out to all volunteers upon request.

Tax filling experience is wanted, but not necessary.

Duties Include – CRA Tax Filing Training, taking at least one 4 hour shift per week for the tax season (Feb 16th to May 1st), Filing taxes for Canada ACORN clients, and showing their clients the dignity and respect they deserve.
